SO... THanksgiving. It was better than expected at one celebration, and slightly more boring at another. Gma A's dinner on Thanksgiving Day went better than we all expected. She may have finally let the whole wedding dramam go, however only time will tell with her. THere was one bump with her. J, being preggo, is constantly feeling nausious and that day was no exception. Her, my self, and Gma A were in the kitchen and Gma A came up behind J and smacked J's sides somewhat hard. I don't think she knows how hard her smacks can be, because even not being preggo, they hurt. J yelled a lil bit, and then ran to the bathroom to hurl yet again (she had just come out of the bathroom from hurling when Gma A did that). Other than that, it went okay. Mer and her brother Ieek were there usual handfuls, Mer not wanting to eat her food-- she actually took a finger of mashed potatoes and rubbed it into her shirt. This from a 10 year old! Ieek was better at eating his food (THey had to eat most/all of their food before they could get a roll. Usually if they eat the roll first, none of the rest of the food will get touched).
Last night was okay. Not as many of the relatives came because a handful of them were sick, and the others that were absent were either working or were waiting to see what their significant other was going to be doing after they got off work. My Aunt C was there, being her usual funny self. Sadly, the cat that I usually pet outside that's so loving and adorable, Fat Fred, died :( According to Tek, he had gotten pretty banged up after getting into a fight with another animal. Dad is either already at H's place, or is almost there. He had to go to where H lives to do a brake job on her truck. Apparently, for being one of the smarter siblings in the family, she doesn't know that much about keeping up with car maintainance! Both of their cars are crappy right now (she also has a mini cooper- i'm jealous of it bc those cars are fast and cute!) but only one of them Dad can go help with. It kinda sucks because my car might be acting up right now. I would know for sure if something was wrong with it, only Dad didn't test drive it like he usually does when I come home. So hopefully the car lasts me until I get back on either Dec. 8th or 9th, depending on when my finals are done, because school is not in the same town as him, and I don't have the money or expertise to fix my car in my dorm parking lot. He did say that if I think something is definitely worng with the car, to wait for him to get back and then I'll mostlikely be driving the Chevy back to school. Only problem is, I have a 10am class Monday morning, and he won't be back from H's til probably about 8, from what he was guesstimating. Course that could have changed, who knows. I'm hoping my car's okay. But if it's not, Grrr to the stupid roads around SSU, being all bumpy and hurting my car.
Okay, I might be able to post sometime during the next week, I might not, seeing as it will be the last week before finals. After finals, I'll try to post once a week about what's going on around home, possibly some fictional stuff as well. I'm thinking of creating another blog to that, but I'm not sure yet. Well, hope everybody's Thanksgiving went well :)

No Good
Okay, I'm no good at this. Pretty much, my time-management skills are non-existent when it comes to paper writing.I have a 5-7 page paper due in my Survey to British Literature 1 class due tomorrow, and I have yet to start it. Yes, I should have started it at least a week ago, that way I would have the research done, and the writing pretty much wrapped up. Instead, I'm starting the paper after I type this post. I'm pretty sure I'm going to focus on Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, possibly the Wife of Bath Prologue/Tale (not sure which), but that's not concrete. My feelings towards this paper are as long as I meet all the requirements of the research paper (paper length, research requirement, etc.) then hopefully I'll at least get a C on this paper. Would I like to get a better grade than that? Of course, but I'm being realistic here.
On top of needing to write this paper, I need to read Part 3 and Book 4 of Gulliver's Travels for that class tomorrow. Then I can go home for Thanksgiving. And before any of you ask, yes, I'm still apprehensive about Thanksgiving at Gma A's house.
Things with the roommates have been.. okay since the last time I wrote. Definitely think that something's up between the two of them, because of yesterday. This whole weekend, M was the only one here besides me (E went home Thursday night, forgot stuff which is why I peevishly have to take her what she forgot >:( and T went home Friday) Speaking of them, I'm pretty sure T just got back from what ever excursion she went on a little while ago and is gonna be peeved that I put the thermostat back on heat (one of them set it on a/c 64-- ya, a wii bit chilly in our house). When T got back last night, M was rarely in the same room as her. And when they were, there was very little conversation going on between them. Which is weird for them, because throughout this semester they've been attached at the hip and loud as hell when conversing. Maybe M got sick of T's slobbish ways, of her not washing her dishes or trashing the kitchen/bathroom/house in general. Who knows.

Assumptions Get You Nowhere
So, I'm a little irked with my roommate right now. She went home for the weekend early. We only have school Monday and Tuesday of next week because of Thanksgiving. She was going to come back for classes Monday and Tuesday. However, I got a text a couple hours ago, asking if I could bring her some stuff that she forgot down here. At first it was just one thing, but about an hour after that, she added something else she forgot. I texted her back because I thought she as coming back Sunday night, and that she thought I was going home this weekend, which I'm not, seeing as it'd be a waste of gas since I'll be going home on Tuesday. I'm irked at this because it's like when she added the second item, she's automatically thinking I'll do it, even though I have not said yes. Granted, I might end up doing this, but that is besides the point. The point is, it aggravates me that she's just assuming I don't have concrete plans on Tuesday and that I can meet her anywhere to bring her her stuff. yes, we all tend to forget something from time to time, but the assumptions she's making really just-- irks me. Part of it being PMS (sorry for the tmi moment) but I doubt she would like it if the roles were reversed.

I.. am NOT awake
Late nights and early mornings SUCK! I was up until around 4:30am working on a presentation that's due today (sill not done, luckily it's not due til 6pm-- today's going to be a VERY long day), and then had to be up around 8/9-ish to be up for my 10am class that i've slept through the past through classes. So, i'll probably not be the most coherent person alive today, seeing as I have to finish a good chunk of my presentation, then if there's time, add pictures of my own to the thing.
Thanksgiving is next week, and I'm still apprehensive about what's going to happen. But on much more exciting news, my sister J is going with her husband Ph, our Mom, and her mother-in-law to her ultrasound, and they're going to find out the sex of the Lil Alien (nickname for her baby, H's baby's nickname is Lil whoseit-- i didn't come up with them, but they're better than boogerbutt, lil snot, etc).
I would go to sleep early tonight, however, I need to get a decent-sized chunk on my Survey to English Lit 1 paper done. It's not due until Tuesday, however, we're having a draft workshop tomorrow, so in case she wants to look at what I have so far, it's got to have a decent-sized chunk done.
Well, off to the cafeteria for some coffee and a biscuit before class.Wish me luck :)
Update: J's having a lil girl alien!!! Dad is even more outnumbered (three daughters, now a grandaughter). He's probably hoping that H has a boy, which is a major possibility. The far-fetched hop is if I ever decide to have kids, which if that ever happens is a LONG way off.
My powerpoint presentation went okay. I had my run of the mill tongue-tied moments, but everything went good as far as I could tell.

Pre-Thanksgiving Blues
As of right now, I have a feeling Thanksgiving day's dinner is going to not be a pleasant event. Why, you ask? Well, I'll tell you. I've briefly discussed the subject of my Grandma A and her bitter/spiteful behavior towards my sister J because she wasn't invited to the wedding. No one has talked to her since the chair incident.* This brings Thanksgiving dinner at her house into question. I just have this feeling there is going to be a big argument that will permanently alter relationships in the family. I know that if we end up taking my car, then I'm bringing my own set of keys for it so I can book it out of there. I'm pretty sure my mom has to work that day/night anyways (holiday pay = time and a half-- pretty nice). That way, if I book it outta there, then Dad has a way home. Granted, I'll prolly end up having to pick Mom up from work that night, but I can deal with that in order to break away from tension and shouting. Not to mention my two cousins, Ieek and Mer. Both autistic. Don't get me wrong, I love them dearly, and they have their moments. However, when my Aunt L and Uncle D bring the rugrats over to Gma A's house, they run wild, and scream shriek- pretty much very loud noises that are the culprits of some of my worst headaches. Ieek once broke a snowglobe that Gma A had in her computer room. Kid didn't even get a timeout.
Now, the day after Thanksgiving si a different story. I can't wait to see my Mom's side of the family. they're more laid back. I can practically be myself around them. It's only awkward when I'm pretty much the only person there that didn't bring their significant others besides the younger grandkids (Mom has 2 sisters, 2 brothers, 2 stepsisters = LOTS of cousins). But it kinda evens out because I spend a lot of time outside with the cats that roam the outside, or Sampson/Samson the chocolate Chihuahua. It's kinda funny Papa has him, because he's a farmer-type, and has (as far as I know) has only had Collies and non-accessory type of dogs. But he's adorable, especially when he falls asleep on Uncle R's stomach after dinner.
Well, I should have a fun weekend. Oh, I know I was going to tell you what went on this weekend, but there wasn't much to talk about. I just went to the 'rents house, hung out all weekend with them, J and her stepdaughter, and Dudley (dog). Had the meeting with the RA and The Children Sunday night. It went as expected. There's a ceasefire again, though this one seemes less tension-filled. It may actually stick for the rest of the semester. Hopefully it does. But back to this upcoming weekend. I have a presentation i have to do for a class on Wednesday, and I still need to read the chapter, put together the PP presentation, including finding some youtube clips on the subject. Wish me luck!
*J was promised a chair that had been our dead Grandpa B (who had been married to Gma A) by Gma A. At our dead aunt and uncle estates sale, J was going to bid on a set of chairs that she loved. gma A got them instead. When J and her stepdaughter met her for lunch, Gma A wouldn't let the wedding non-invite go (J threw together her wedding in 4 days, Gma A wasn't invited, threw a big fit pretty much, though she's claims she's accepted it/over it, she won't let the subject matter drop, trying to play the victim.) It was making J's stepdaughter upset, and if J hadn't been dizzy from the fact she's pregnant and needed to eat, she would've stormed out of the restaurant. That's right they argued in the restaurant and in the parking lot after eating. The reason being, Gma Ada, for J's b-day gift/wedding gift, gave her money, ONE of the chairs (was a pair of chairs she won at the estate auction), told J she was not only giving our other sister H the other chair, but J was no longer getting our dead Gpa B's old orange chair. Needless to say, j was upset.

Apparently...
...E and I are petty! Imagine that! Let me explain.
Any of you that have read my other "venting sessions" about the children have read all the petty/aggravating things they've done this semester. Well, last night M "asked" us to stop slamming the doors because it was causing the back one to become ajar. What she doesn't realize is that it was ajar because E had tossed the cat out for the umpteenth time, and had slammed it so hard that it didn't latch. It was quite funny actually.
Well, tonight, the lone streamer that has been hanging there since T's birthday weekend- we tore it down. I will admit, it was slightly petty. Apparently that was enough for them to call up "assholes" and "fucking bitches."* A few minutes later they knocked on our bedroom door saying we were just acting plain petty because of the door slamming (they were the ones that initiated the slamming for no damn reason- ours had a purpose**) Now, we brought up the towel problem, where they "claim a guy friend of theirs wiped his face on E's towels, which are now stained with the makeup- funny, the make up is the same shade as T's foundation/concealer. What a coincidence... We also said the cat can't come inside anymore, and brought up why we slam the doors. What we could have also brought up was the fact that M, through her last period used pretty much my entire box of tampons that were under the bathroom sink, because she "confused them for her own" and still has yet to replace them (a month later, but yet she can pay for the guinea pig supplies, the hair extensions, pizza and alcohol- but not a $5 box of tampons). Or the fact that not only is the bathroom trashed because of them, but also the entire house because of their "Thirsty Thursday" partying. Also the bedding that they've tracked throughout the house, or the name calling.
Thank God I'm going home this weekend... I might have the feeling that I lost a few more friends to the ex, but sadly, I kind of expect it anymore. It's sad because someone I consider to pretty much one of my best friends. But W shares more in common with him.. I guess this is what happens. Not saying it doesn't hurt though... I'll hang out with B this weekend, go see The Men Who Stare At Goats. I had been trying to get a group of friends to go, but no one but her and W responded, his schedule's screwy, and he's the drifting away, so I'll hang out with her.. possibly hang out with J and Mom, and Dudley the wonder puppy of course (11 r old yellow lab/welsh corgi/ lil bit of basset hound mix-- resembles a fat yellow lab with legs cut off). Another weekend without the stress and chaos known as SSU. How nice it should be...
I'll try and update when I get back. If something happens before I leave tomorrow, I might post but no guarantees. Also, don't be afraid to leave your opinions. I'm a big girl, I can take it, lol :)
I'll try and post
*Now I will admit to being a bitch. In fact I embrace it sometimes. However, fecal matter does not come spewing out of my mouth.
**E would slam only the front/back door if she had to toss the cat outside because one of them let it in. I would slam it because of the cat, or bc T/M had been in the bathroom for over an hour, so I would have to brush my teeth in the building of the class I would have to rush to. They however slam every door in the house, for what appears to be no damn reason.

Guy Fawkes Day
Ever since my friends and I saw V for Vendetta, we've texted each other this poem every 5th of November.
Remember, remember the 5th of November,
the gunpowder treason and plot,
I know of no reason
why the gunpowder treason
should ever be forgot.
Happy Guy Fawkes Day!

How do you tell them...
Ever since I got off the phone yesterday with "J" (oldest sister, 21 wk preggo) the other day, I started to really wonder- how do I tell my friend K that her relationship with Al shows precursors of an abusive relationship? The reason I know the precursors is because in my Intro to Women's Studies class. We recently went over the precursors: being jealous, starts to isolate you from your friends, controlling issues. She has at least 2 outta 3, if not all. Let me explain.
I have been friends with K and Al since our freshman year of high school. They started dating in the past year or so. I'm not saying he's a bad guy. I'm just saying since my family has a history with domestic violence* and with this class, it's got me worried that their relationship could turn down a bad path, and I don't want to see that happen to her or him.
One of the things that he does is he doesn't like her to be in contact with some of her guy friends, including her ex. Now I can understand the ex thing to a point, but I've talked to both K and W, and neither of them ever want to date each other again. K kind of laments that W "got custody" of her best guy friend that was pratically a brother to her, J, after her and W broke up. However, her story on that one is a little iffy. Another instance of him not wanting her to talk to some of her guy friends is a semi-friend of mine** D. She was on the phone with D one night, and Al called. She asked if he could call back in a little while because she was on the phone with D and he threw a hissyfit. I was at her party that she had a week before her birthday. Al had a hold of her phone practically the whole time. D texted her while Al had it, and he wouldn't let her see the phone, so I texted D to say Al had the phone.
I'm just worried about her. She's changed a lot in the past year or so. When my ex dumped me and I cam e home for spring break, all I wanted was a girls only get together with her and KT. They couldn't hang out with me on the same day, so wee did separate days. KT's day was great. I was able to vent to her, and she was a shoulder for me. On K's day, she was an hour late, and she brought AL with her. I get the wanting to do everything with your boyfriend/significant other, however when you ask your friend for a girls day, it doesn't mean you can bring the bf along, especially if this is shortly after the one wanting the girls day just got dumped. Granted, Al in that moment actually was a better listener/was more sympathetic than K, but that is beside the point. I'm just worried.
So what do I do? My gut tells me that I should tell her, even if it's in a gentle manner. However, at the same time, it's telling me that if/when I do share my concerns, that friendship is done, and so is the one with Al. So what do I do?
*My aunt's first husband was abusive to her. The one incident that happened to her when I was just a baby (or was possibly not born yet, they were together for a while) was when their oldest child L had to try and pull him off of my aunt because he was choking my aunt. Needless to say, he's not welcome at family get together's and his children he had with her, along with my aunt have little to no contact with him.
**I say semi-friend because there are times when we get along, but then something happens that makes me not want to ever talk to him again.
